Silver Scholars Programme with Yale School of Management

The Yale School of Management (SOM) admits a select handful of college seniors to a three-year MBA programme called the Silver Scholars Programme (SSP). The programme provides the unique opportunity to enter the Yale MBA programme immediately after undergraduate study and advance more quickly toward career goals.

The programme features a year of core curriculum courses, a year of full-time internship placement, and a year of elective courses. Throughout the programme, students have access to career advice from the Yale SOM Career Development Office and valuable contacts from the Yale SOM alumni network.

Application Process

Applicants to the Silver Scholars Programme go through the same rigorous application process as applicants to the full-time MBA programme at Yale SOM. Only candidates in their last year of undergraduate study are eligible to apply.The selection process includes the following requirements:

1. An online application, the same as the one for the full-time MBA programme at Yale SOM.

  • Work Experience section: Here, you can point out relevant part-time or summer internship experiences. You may also fill in “Not applicable,” in which case the committee will seek relevant experiences in your résumé.
  • Activities section: Here, you can highlight extracurricular activities in which you participate at Yale-NUS or with external organizations.

2. Two letters of recommendation.

  • One letter from an academic instructor who has taught you and graded your performance;
  • One letter from an employer for whom you have worked professionally, part-time or full-time. If you have no work experience, you can secure a letter from an extracurricular activity or a volunteer organization.

3. For shortlisted candidates, a half-hour interview with one or more members of the Silver Scholars Committee. The interview covers the applicant’s personal goals and interests, and their academic background.
