Leadership Certificate (from Class of 2020)

1. Core Requirements

  • Leadership Fundamentals
  • Leadership Camp
  • Leadership Ethics
  • Cohort Activities
    (to attend at least 2 each year; these may take the form of stand-alone leadership workshops, Life Skills Lunches or other experiential activities.)

2. Experiential Requirement – to complete at least ONE

This involves leadership in practice and is anchored on reflection, action and iteration. Students will develop or hone select leadership competencies through sustained involvement in an applied setting.

3. Service Requirement

The service requirement aims to facilitate purpose-driven and sustained impact in communities. Students are asked to identify and assess areas of impact that they would like to drive through sustained participation (amounting to approximately 300 hours). This can be completed through:

4. Leadership Symposium

Leadership Certificate participants will participate in the Leadership Symposium in their final semester at Yale-NUS College to distill and share their learning with the wider Yale-NUS community. Each student will be asked to reflect on their experience in 5-minute segments, and will consider the following questions:

  1. How did the Leadership Certificate experience impact you?
  2. How has it shaped your interactions with others?
  3. What is a community that you identify with? Reflect on the footprint that you have left.
  4. What is one thing you would do to take this forward?
